Combestone Tor is a location that I return to again and again. It's like Dartmoor in a nutshell- it has mysterious granite rock formations, weathered thorn trees and fantastic views down to the Dart Valley... all within a few metres of the Holne to Hexworthy road! The stones here come in many interesting formations, and this particular split rock is a favourite of mine, not least because of the pair of little thorn trees in the background that make such an appealing picture. The late evening sunlight kissing the side of the rocks was the final ingredient needed to bring this scene to life.
